Hà My Nguyễn (born in 1991) grew up in a mountainous area of central Vietnam, near the border with Laos. Living close to forests, plants, and community life shaped the way she observes and relates to the world around her. She studied traditional lacquer at the University of Arts in Huế, where she became interested in materials, craft practices, and the stories embedded in everyday life. After graduating, Hà My continued exprience on different materials. In 2017, she began ceramics through a self-taught practice. Working with clay offered her a different approach to form and space, and gradually became an important part of her artistic practice. Since 2018, she has been living and working in Paris. Hà My's practice grows out of an interest in forms of knowledge rooted in everyday life, including local plants, regional foods, recipes, and experiences passed down through families and communities. Through her work, she connects personal memories with broader questions of migration, geographical distance, and the ways people create new forms of belonging. Her artworks become a way of imagining spaces of connection, where experiences from different places and cultural contexts can meet and enter into dialogue. Working with ceramics, drawing, and installation, Hà My creates forms that exist somewhere between plants, bodies, and imagination. Many of her works emerge from observations, memories, or impressions of the natural world, developing into forms that remain open and undefined. Her practice is a way of reflecting on the relationship between people and their environment, and between what is remembered and what gradually disappears.
